US Navy F/A-18A Crashes Near NAS Fallon

A U.S. Navy F/A-18A Hornet assigned to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center at Naval Air Station Fallon crashed Tuesday, and the pilot is reportedly okay.

According to the US Navy, the crash took place January 12, 2016, about 8:30AM in the Fallon Range Training Complex, about 25 miles east of NAS Fallon.

The pilot ejected from the aircraft and was recovered safely, according to the Navy, and is being evaluated at a hospital.

The flight was part of a routine training mission, and the plane hit remote mountainous terrain when it crashed.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
