RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe opens for the 2026-27 winter season Friday, Nov. 6, after early season snow and cold temperatures allowed snowmaking operations to get underway. The Lakeview Express lift started spinning at 9 a.m.

The Lakeview Express will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The lift provides access to long intermediate level trails on the Main Lodge side of the mountain.

Open trails will include Kit Carson Traverse, Kit Carson Bowl and Ponderosa. More runs could open as snowmaking continues this week. Skiers and riders should anticipate early season conditions and snowmaking operations in progress.

Beginner terrain will be available on opening day but will be limited to the Show-Off area near the main lodge. The Magic Conveyor lift is expected to be open to serve that terrain.

All parking will be available at the Main Lodge. Services will include the Lodgepole Cafe, Higher Grounds Coffee Bar and Timbers.

Equipment rentals and the Tuning Center will be open, along with ski and snowboard lessons. Lodge operations start at 8 a.m. Lifts will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Additional terrain and resort services are expected to open as snowmaking operations continue at every opportunity conditions permit.

Snow, terrain and lift operations reports and tickets are available at skirose.com , where lift tickets and 2026-27 season passes can be purchased.

Wildslide Tahoe snowtubing will not be open on Friday. The projected opening date is Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Updates are available at Wildslidetahoe.com
