RENO - TJ Bruce has accepted the job to become the head baseball coach at Nevada. The hire was announced at the Italian Sports Dinner held at the Eldorado on Thursday night.

Bruce has spent the last five years as an assistant coach at UCLA. He was the infield coach on John Savage's staff with the Bruins. Savage is a Reno native and former Wolf Pack assistant himself.

Bruce was a player at Long Beach State, and joined the 49ers staff as an assistant for five seasons.

He inherits a Nevada team that won the regular-season Mountain West Conference title, going 41-15 overall.
