STEAD, NV -The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing at the Stead airport with both the pilot and passenger walking away with no injuries on Monday, June 8, 2015.

Airport spokeswoman Heidi Jared says the single-engine plane caught fire after it landed on airport property near one of the runways about 3 p.m. The pilot had radioed ahead that the plane, reportedly a single-engine Mooney, was experiencing engine trouble and emergency crews were on the scene when it landed and quickly extinguished the fire.

Jared says the plane apparently was based at the Stead airport. She says the NTSB will investigate the cause of the emergency landing.
