RENO, NV - Amazon has confirmed that its new fulfillment center in Reno has shipped its first customer order. The stovetop deep fryer was shipped from the 600,000-plus-square-foot facility to an Amazon customer from California’s Central Coast the week of January 19, 2015.

The first shipment came just days after Amazon welcomed hundreds of full-time employees to the Reno fulfillment center, where Amazon associates will pick, pack and ship larger customer items, such as big-screen televisions, kayaks, and furniture.

The Fernley warehouse, which is still open for now, will ramp down its business for the next few months. The company says most of the Fernley employees have moved to the Reno warehouse.
