RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A teenage boy charged with open murder will be tried as an adult, according to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office.

Police were called to the shooting at Pat Baker Park the afternoon of December 29, 2015. They say a 16-year-old boy inside a car was shot in the head and died a couple days later. His name was not released.

Police say the shooting happened after 15-year-old Christian Scott robbed the victim in the park. At the time of the shooting, the victim and a passenger were in a car. The passenger was not hurt. Police say it appears the victim was trying to chase the suspect after the robbery.

Scott, now 16, had been held as a juvenile since the shooting, and will be booked as an adult into the Washoe County Jail, charged with one count of Murder with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Attempted Murder with a Firearm and one count of Robbery with a Firearm. No further court dates have been set yet.
