GARDNERVILLE, NV - Douglas County Sheriff's deputies say a man found dead in Lampe Park most likely drowned.

The body of 24-year-old William Sheerin of Gardnerville was found Monday morning shortly before 8:30. Deputies say he was kneeling face down in a creek.

The sheriff's office says cause of death is suspected as drowning, but the final cause will not be determined until after the autopsy and toxicology reports have been completed.

During the investigation, receipts found from a local store show Sheerin purchased alcohol and cigarettes Sunday night. Deputies don't know how Sheerin arrived at the park. No obvious trauma was found on the body and no foul play is suspected.

Anyone who may have had contact with Sheerin in the last 48 hours is encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 775-782-9905.
