AMBER Alert Over; Missing Mother and Daughter Found Safe

UPDATE: Rebecca and Rachel Smart have been discovered by a couple traveling through Mineral County and dropped off at the Schurz Post Office. A Walker River police officer responded to the scene and positively identified the pair as Rebecca and Rachel. An ambulance was summoned to assess their condition and both will be evaluated at Banner Churchill Hospital.

Rachel was found in a disheveled, but unharmed condition.


FALLON, NV - Fallon police and the Nevada Highway Patrol have issued a statewide AMBER Alert in Nevada for a Fallon woman and her 5-year-old child.

Investigators say 31-year-old Rebecca Marie Smart has a history of mental problems and may not be taking her medications. Last night she took her 5-year-old daughter Rachel Rose Smart and left Fallon, telling friends that the end of the world was near and they were going to New York state so her daughter could "meet Jehovah".

Rebecca Smart is believed to be driving a tan 1988 Ford Thunderbird, Nevada license 284 YCS.

Rebecca is described as white female adult, 5'4", 129 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes.

Rachel Rose is described as white female juvenile.
