RENO - The Reno Aces have hired Phil Nevin as their new manager. He replaces Brett Butler, who left for a job with the Marlins.

Nevin has Triple-A experience, serving as the Toledo Mud Hens manager from 2011-2013. His teams compiled a 191-238 record, before he was fired back in August of this year.

He was also the manager for the Erie SeaWolves back in 2010, going 66-76 in Double-A. He was the manager of the Orange County team the year before in the Golden Baseball Independent League.

Nevin was an All-American at Cal State Fullerton, leading the Titans to the 1992 College World Series. He was honored with several player of the year awards, including the Golden Spikes Award.

He was the number one overall pick by the Houston Astros in the 1992 Major League Draft.

Nevin batted .270 during his 12-year career, hitting 208 home runs and 743 RBI. He played for the Tigers, Astros, Padres, Rangers, Twins and the Cubs. He was an All-Star back in 2001 with San Diego.
