Truck Crashes into Incline Home; At least One Dead

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - The NHP is reporting that at least one person has died after a runaway truck crashed into a house near the intersection of Mt. Rose Highway and State Route 28.

According to the NHP, a commercial vehicle driving westbound on Mt. Rose Highway near Incline Village lost its brakes. The truck used a runaway truck ramp, but was unable to stop. The truck went through the runaway ramp and into a house, causing the house to catch on fire.

Emergency crews have yet to get to the cab of the truck to see how many passengers were in it. A woman was in the house at the time of the accident. She was not injured.

Fire crews are also on scene putting out the fire, which has caused minor damage to the house.

The first call came in at 8:13 a.m., according to a Washoe County spokesman. There were reports of an out-of-control truck crashing into a home and then an explosion.

A section of Mt Rose Highway was closed for about two hours, but is now reopened.
