Appeals Court Judge Brunetti Dies

RENO, NV - The United States Court of Appeals is mourning the loss of a Senior Circuit Judge, and Reno native.

Senior Circuit Judge Melvin T. Brunetti of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has died at the age of 75, after battling cancer. He passed away on October 30th at his Reno home.

Born right here in Reno, Judge Brunetti graduated from Sparks High School and studied electrical engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. He later graduated from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.

After graduation, Judge Brunetti worked for several law firms before being appointed to the Court of Appeals by President Regan.

Judge Brunetti served as president of the Nevada State Bar from 1984 to 1985.
