One Dead After Fire at Savoy Motor Lodge

One person is dead after a fire at the Savoy Motor Lodge Sunday night, according to the Reno Police Department.

Authorities evacuated the lodge, and people on the scene estimated eight to 25 individuals were displaced by the fire.

The fire appeared to have been concentrated on the second floor. A fire official said the call came in at 10:02 p.m. and the fire was knocked down by 10:11 p.m.

A witness said someone was banging on a door at the lodge prior to the fire, but it is not known if the incident is related to the blaze.

Authorities said the area is being treated as a crime scene. The cause of the fire and the death are being investigated.
