ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. (AP) - Officials from Nevada and California say they're working together to ease the traffic congestion that takes its toll on the Lake Tahoe area.

Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller hosted California Gov. Jerry Brown and other congressional representatives from the two states at the 19th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit on Monday.

The event's theme was Connecting Lake Tahoe's Environment and Economy Through Innovation and Transportation.

Nevada Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison said the high volume of visitors to the lake takes a toll on the environment, and representatives from both states are discussing ways to fix that.

Possible solutions include more shuttles to Tahoe to cut down on traffic, more bike paths and smartphone apps that help people find parking.
