Wolf Pack loses shortened game to Boise State 12-1
After a tough loss in the series opener, the Pack tried to bounce back with aggressive offense in the first inning but fell short, losing 12-1 in five innings to the Broncos. The Nevada softball team is now 8-9 in Mountain West and 24-21 overall, looking to take the series finale tomorrow at 11:00 am PT.
Julia Jensen started in the circle and pitched 1.2 innings before Kali Sargent came in relief to get the final out. Sargent pitched the remaining 2.1 innings and had two strikeouts. Jensen walked away with the loss and is now 8-5 on the season.
Junior and lead-off hitter, Sierra Mello recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 and scored the lone run in the contest off an RBI from freshman Dallas Millwood. Kenzi Goins and Millwood along with Sadaria McAlister all recorded hits.
In the top of the first, Mello led off with a single and was pushed to second after the Goins single. Millwood knocked her RBI single and the Pack led 1-0. It was short lived however, the Broncos scored four in the first inning and added five in the second to go up 9-1. Boise State added three more in the third as insurance runs to take it 12-1.
The two meet in the series finale, tomorrow at 11:00 am PT.
