With Strong set at QB, Nevada sets sights on Purdue

RENO, NV (KOLO) - Fall camp is in the past for Nevada football. The Wolf Pack is onto to Purdue, prepping for the Boilermakers trip to Mackay Stadium on August 30th.

Before leading his team into its first pregame practice, head coach Jay Norvell ended any questions about Nevada's quarterback, naming redshirt freshman Carson Strong the the Wolf Pack's starter.

The Vacaville, Calif. native had been battling for the job with junior transfer (and one-time star of Netflix's 'Last Chance U') Malik Henry. Senior Cristian Solano was also in the mix before breaking the thumb in his throwing hand. Strong hasn't started a game since his junior year of high school. He missed his senior season with a knee injury.

Purdue, out of the Big-10 Conference, was 6-7 last year.
