Truckee native hosting extreme skiing web series

TRUCKEE, Calif. (KOLO) Truckee native Michelle Parker is now the host of her own web series called Originate.

"We wanted to tell a story with these locations we went to," said Parker. "In Japan, for example, we talked about skiing culture in Japan and we went to the oldest Japanese ski resort, which is 100 years old."

It's a sort of an extreme sports travel series that not only highlights the history and culture of the mountain, but shows how they free-ski down the face. It's terrain that's certainly not for the average weekend skier.

"You're on a very exposed line, a 'no-fall zone' is what we call it," admitted Parker. "If you fall, you'll probably pass away."

The six-episode series is sponsored by Red Bull and can be seen on Red Bull TV. A new episode also premiers every Friday on YouTube. She says it's exciting to see the world by doing the sport she loves.

"I never would have imagined I'd be where I am today growing up, for sure," added Parker.
