Sparks native, former Wolf Pack champion Mariano making professional debut in Reno

Reed graduate and former Nevada boxer JJ Mariano will have his first professional bout in Reno when he takes on Fresno's William Flenoy Saturday, June 8th from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Mariano is a combined 38-6 between his collegiate and amateur fights. He won a National Championship in 2015 as a member of the Wolf Pack.

The Sparks native will fight in the junior welterweight division as part of a packed card Saturday in Reno, which gets going at 3:30 p.m. Carson City's Diego Elizondo will also be fighting, taking on Sacramento's Sergio Vega.

The night's main event, Oscar Valdez and Jason Sanchez, will air on ESPN as the unbeaten duo fights for the WBO Featherweight World Championship.
