4A North baseball standings settled on final day

RENO, NV In a race that came down to the final day of the regular season, the Reno Huskies baseball team outlasted Galena to clinch the top spot in the 4A North. The playoffs begin next Tuesday.

The Huskies and Grizzlies entered the day with identical 14-3 league records. Reno handled business at home, beating McQueen 3-1 while Galena fell 6-3 at home to Damonte Ranch.

The Grizzlies finished tied with Spanish Springs at 14-14, but Galena owns the tiebreaker thanks to an earlier win over Reno, while the Cougars were swept by the Huskies.

Next Tuesday's playoff matchups are set. (1) Reno will host (8) Douglas, (2) Glanea welcomes (7) McQueen, (6) Reed travels to 93) Spanish Springs and (4) Manogue hosts (5) Damonte Ranch.
