Pack softball picked 5th in preseason MWC poll

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) The Nevada softball team was picked to finish in fifth place in the Mountain West as voted upon by the league’s coaches. Monday’s announcement marks the second year in a row that Nevada has been picked to finish fifth.

With a total of 63 points and seven first place votes, San Diego State was chosen to win the conference. Following the Aztecs was reigning MW champion San José State who received 57 points and two first place votes. Fresno State (44) edged out Utah State (43) for third place, while Nevada (37), Colorado State (30), Boise State (27), UNLV (14) and New Mexico (9) rounded out the field is this season’s preseason poll.

The Pack’s 2018 campaign begins on Feb. 8 when the team travels south of America’s border to compete in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
