Nevada's Van Patten places 14th at first NCAA Championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Senior Mitchell Van Patten ended his college career with a 14th place finish in the smallbore at the NCAA Rifle Championships being hosted by West Virginia. Van Patten shot a 580 in his first NCAA Championship appearance.

The Wolf Pack’s second participant is freshman Alec Patajo (Pa-Tahoe) who will shoot in the air rifle event tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. PT.

At the NCAA Qualifier Van Patten shot a 586 to earn a spot in the NCAA field, two points off his career high of 588 that he posted at the OSU Buckeye Invite on Nov. 12, 2016. At the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships this season he placed third in the smallbore and won the air rifle title.
