RENO, Nev. – Nevada men’s golf senior Sam Harned has been named the Mountain West Golfer of the Month for September, the league announced today.

Harned posted a stellar month of golf in September, highlighted by his season-opening win at the Badger Invitational, the first win of his career. The Rocklin, Calif. native fired an 8-under 64 in the final round of the Badger Invitational, which tied his career-low, and helped him jump from sixth to first on the final day. He finished the event at 12-under par to win by one shot.

In Nevada’s three events and seven rounds played, Harned averaged 70.2 strokes per round and collected two top five finishes, including the win. His solid play in the month helped the Wolf Pack to a fifth place finish at the Badger Invitational and a third place showing at the Husky Invitational.

Nevada returns to action at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Oct. 7-8 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
