RENO, NV (KOLO) - Grant Ford has signed to join the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, officially forgoing his senior season at Nevada.

The San Jose, Calif. native was taken by the Pirates in the 5th round of last week's MLB Draft, the 154th overall pick. Ford is Nevada's highest draft selection since Braden Shipley was taken by the Diamondbacks with the 15th pick in 2013.

Ford pitched primarily out of the bullpen, finishing his junior season with a career-high 51 strikeouts in 45.2 innings of work. He had an earned run average of 2.74 and held batters to a .195 average.

Ford is the second Wolf Pack player in as many days to sign with a MLB squad. On Tuesday, fellow junior Ryan Anderson signed with the Yankees, after New York selected him in the 12th round.
