Nevada soccer falls in fifth straight contest; UC Davis wins 1-0

RENO, Nev. – On a night where the Wolf Pack (1-6) outplayed its opposition, UC Davis (5-3) still snuck away with the 1-0 victory on Saturday night. The game-winning goal came six minutes into the second half, when Janae Gonzalez capitalized on a penalty kick.

The Pack had possession of the ball for 73% of the contest and outshot the Aggies 11-9. Nevada also earned five corner kicks compared to the Aggies three.

Nevada was led by Gabby Brown offensively, who put up six shots to give her 25 on the season to lead the Pack. Four of them went on goal, with Nevada’s fifth and final shot on goal coming from Payton Lieb.
Kendal Stovall recorded four saves, including a spectacular diving effort in the second half to tip the ball wide of the goal. This came just minutes after the penalty kick, so the save kept Nevada in the match for the remainder of the contest.

During the time Nevada had the ball, they spent most of it in Aggie territory. 79% of the Pack’s time with the ball was on the attacking end, and they spent almost a fifth of their time with the ball within the 18-yard line of UC Davis.

Nevada will kick off Mountain West play next Friday, Sept. 27th in Mackay Stadium when it welcomes Boise State.
