Nevada rallies to walk-off on No. 25 Colorado State

RENO, NV - In the bottom of the seventh inning, bases are loaded with one out when Kwynn Warner knocks a single to the left field allowing Sadaria McAlister to come home and take the walk-off win over No. 25 Colorado State, 4-3. The Pack is now 23-16, 8-5 in Mountain West and in sole possession of second place.

Kendall Fritz got the start in what became a pitchers dual early one. The freshman pitched her 11th complete game and got the win pushing her to 10-6 on the year.

Four different members of the Pack had multi-hit games with Sierra Mello, Sadaria McAlister, Dallas Millwood and Kwynn Warner. Ashley Salausa went 1-for-2 at the plate but had a solo home run and was intentionally walked for her third IBB of the season.

Colorado State scored first after a delayed steal got the runner on third safe across the plate but the Pack responded right away with a solo home run from Salausa to tie it up 1-1. Nevada put someone on base in each the third and fourth inning but were left stranded. Colorado State was also scoreless through the third and fourth, going three up three down in back to back innings for six straight retired.

In the bottom of the fifth Mello hit a one-out double to put her in scoring position and was later drove in on an RBI single from Millwood for her 39th RBI of the season. The Pack took the 2-1 lead but it was short lived after a lead off solo shot over the right field wall by Amber Nelson tied it up 2-2.

The Rams took the lead in the seventh inning, after shutting the Pack out in the bottom of the sixth, with another lead off solo home run, 3-2 Colorado State. It came down to the final three outs for Nevada.

Mello started off with a drawn walk before McAlister doubled down the left field line putting both in scoring position with no outs. Millwood stepped up and again hit an RBI single scoring Mello for the second time in the game. Now it's tied, 3-3. The Rams decide to intentionally walk Salausa to load the bases with Warner up to bat. The designated player, Warner stayed patient and hit a single to left field scoring McAlister and winning the game for the Pack, 4-3.

The two teams meet again, tomorrow at Hixson Park at 1:00 pm PT with the Pack looking to win the series.
