Mariano, Elizondo to defend unblemished records

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - J.J. Mariano of Sparks and Carson City's Diego Elizondo will fight on a world title fight undercard in what is expected to be a wild night of boxing Saturday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Mariano (1-0), who went to Reed High School and won a national championship while a part of the University of Nevada-Reno boxing team, is set to compete in his second professional fight.

The now professional boxer will fight Trinity Lopez in a four-round welterweight bout. Mariano won his professional debut in early June by TKO.

Elizondo (2-0-2) is on the undercard and is scheduled to fight Jose Ceja in a four-round fight in the lightweight division.

The Carson City native fought to a draw back in June against Sergio Vega out of Sacramento.
