RENO, NV – Nevada women’s basketball head coach Amanda Levens has announced the signing of transfer LaPraisjah Johnson to a National Letter of Intent. Johnson, a transfer from Cochise College in Arizona, will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“LaPraisjah comes from highly successful programs in Cochise, which won their region and went on to the national tournament this past year, and South Plains College,” said Levens. “She will help add athleticism and a strong defensive mentality to our team. She is such a hard worker and competitor and we can’t wait to get her on campus!”

A native of Killeen, Texas, Johnson helped Cochise to a 28-4 overall record in 2018-19, which included a 21-1 mark in conference play. The Apaches advanced to the NJCAA Tournament in Johnson’s lone season. Johnson, a 5-9 guard, started in 31 of 32 games this past season and averaged 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. She knocked down 41.0 percent of her shots from the field and added 82 assists, 36 steals and 23 blocks. In her 32 games played she scored in double figures in 14 of them, including a season-high 17 points against Midland.

Prior to her season at Cochise, Johnson played her freshman year at South Plains College in Texas. She averaged 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and helped the Lady Texans to a 17-13 record. Johnson scored in double figures in 11 of 30 contests, which included a career-high 21 points vs. Midland.

She joins three other transfers, Nia Alexander, Marguerite Effa and Miki’ala Maio, and three incoming freshmen as the new members of the Wolf Pack for the 2019-20 season.
