ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The Nevada softball team moves to 3-1 in Mountain West after a win over the New Mexico Lobos, 7-1. The Pack is now 18-12 overall and the Lobos sit at 12-22, 1-6.

Ashley Salausa, Kenzi Goins, Haley Burda and Kwynn Warner all had two hits in the contest while Salausa and Goins both had multi-RBI games. Sierra Mello, Salausa and Goins also all hit doubles to improve the teams total to 54, average of 1.80 a game.

Kendall Fritz started in the circle and went the distance for her sixth complete game with seven strikeouts. The freshman only had one earned run and just two walks in the contest to put her opponent average on the season to .238.

Both teams exchanged scoreless innings and strikeouts until the top of the third when Mello doubled to left field and Goins followed with an RBI single to score her from second to give the Pack a 1-0 lead. The base running was held off when a line out ended the threat.

New Mexico responded in the bottom of the fourth after Fritz issued a walk and a double was hit to centerfield to tie it up 1-1. The Pack answered right back with Goins driving in Mello with a double down the left field line but was left stranded after a strikeout.

The top of the sixth saw Danielle Lew cross home plate after she drew a walk and Burda hit a single to move her to second before Lauren Gutierrez singled to bring Lew home. However, the top of the seventh the bats came alive and saw the Pack score four more runs to add insurance.

Sadaria McAlister led the seventh off with a single before Goins drew a walk and Warner singled to load the bases with no outs. A passed ball scored McAlister from third just before Salausa doubled scoring two more, 6-1 Pack. Rachel Rodriguez grounded out moving Salausa over to third and Burda with an RBI single scored Salausa, 7-1. Three defensive outs from the Pack and it was ball game.

The two match up for a 3:00 pm PT first pitch tomorrow in the second game of the series. The game will be available on Mountain West Network and SIDEARM for live stats.
