Construction begins soon on 120,000-square foot indoor sports facility

RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- Construction begins this month on Sportsdome XL, a 120,000-square foot indoor sports facility for children and adults.

It will provide indoor turf and court space for sports like soccer, futsal, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, flag football and softball.

It is being built in south Reno in South Meadows Parkway and is expected to be finished in 2020. It is three times the size of the current Reno Sportsdome north of downtown Reno. Reno Sportsdome will onctinue to operate after Sportsdome XL opens.

Sportsdome XL will have a bar and lounge with an expanded menu. It will also book corporate events, trade shows, birthday parties and quinceañeras.

“This exciting, cutting-edge sports facility will provide a space for the youth and adult population of northern Nevada to be active year-round,” Owen Blake, owner of Reno Sportsdome, said in a statement. “We encountered some construction delays along the way, but we are now on track and are set to break ground. We are building a facility with multiple sport options that the entire community can enjoy. We plan to continue the Sportdome tradition of providing quality sports leagues but will now offer more space to incorporate additional sports and large tournaments.”
