RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – University of Nevada senior point guard Cody Martin has been named a top 10 finalist for the 2019 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. Martin, from Mocksville, N.C. has helped the sixth ranked Wolf Pack to a 21-1 record this season and a Mountain West leading 8-1 mark.
Martin is averaging a Mountain West leading 5.4 assists per game which is 47th in the country as is his 118 assists on the season. His 3.0 assist/turnover ratio is first in the conference and 25th in Division I. Three times this season he has produced double figure assist games with 11 vs. BYU, 10 vs. Pacific and 10 against Little Rock which are three of the top five assists games in the MW this season. The 11 assists tied his career high that he also had last season in the home win over Colorado State.
On the year he ranks third on the team averaging 11.3 points per game. In addition he is averaging 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He is shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 76.6 percent at the free throw line.
