CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) Carson high school's Abel Carter has been named the Tuff Shed Stud of the Week by the Sports Caravan.

He ran for a school record 421 yards on 19 carries, scoring five touchdowns in the 59-29 win over rival Douglas.

"I don't know, it was just the last game of the year; last game of your senior season," said Carter "Just kind of wanted to go out with a bang and give it everything I had."

The 421 yards rushing is the second most in a single game in Nevada state history.

"It was kind of surreal to be honest with you," said head coach Blair Roman. "The amount of long runs that he had and the yardage that piled up. I was a bit surprised after the game when I'd heard that. I knew he had a lot, but not that many."

Carter averaged 22 yards per carry in the Senators' win, which also clinched the final playoff spot in the regional playoffs.

"I've been working hard for this my whole life pretty much, and to see this as the end result is amazing," added Carter.

He has run for 1,752 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Carson (4-5) plays at second ranked Reno (10-0) in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday night.
