RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – University of Nevada senior Caleb Martin has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week after helping guide the Wolf Pack to a 3-0 record. Martin was named the MVP of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Invitational after the Pack claimed the title. It is the first MW weekly honor for Martin.
Martin averaged 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, two assists and 1.7 steals in 28.3 minutes per game for the Wolf Pack that improved to 6-0 on the season. For the week he shot 43.6 percent from the field and 87.5 percent at the free throw line connecting on 21-of-24 of his free throw attempts.
He started the week with 14 points and five rebounds in a 35-point victory over California Baptist in 24 minutes. In the semifinal game with Tulsa in Las Vegas he netted 21 points and grabbed six rebounds playing 34 minutes.
In the title game he scored a career-high 29 points playing just 27 minutes in the 110-87 victory over UMass. He made 9-of-15 fields that included 6-of-10 three pointers and made 5-of-6 free throws.
