RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – University of Nevada senior Caleb Martin has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week after leading the Wolf Pack to a pair of conference wins. It is the third MW weekly honor this season for the Mocksville, N.C. native and sixth of the year for a Pack player.
In the two games he averaged 28 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and one block in 39 minutes per game to help the conference leading and top 10 Wolf Pack to a pair of MW wins. He started the week scoring a game-high 26 points, grabbed six rebounds, had two assists and two steals playing 38 minutes in the Pack’s 87-70 victory at intrastate rival UNLV.
As the Pack returned home he produced another game-high with 30 points in the 93-73 victory over Boise State. It was the second 30-point game of his career and this season with the first being a career-high 33 points in a win at Utah. In addition he had four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal as he played all 40 minutes.
In the two games combined he shot 57.1 (16-of-28) percent from the field, 50 (9-of-18) percent from behind the arc and 78.9 (15-of-19) percent at the free throw line. He played 78 of a possible 80 minutes.
