RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – For the first time in her career, Nevada women’s basketball senior Terae Briggs has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week from both the conference office and from College Sports Madness.

This is the first player of the week award for the Wolf Pack this season and it comes on the heels of a 79-78 overtime win over Hawai’i to end non-conference action. Nevada has won three of its last four games heading into conference play, thanks in part to strong play from Briggs.

During the contest against Hawai’i, Briggs led all scorers with a career-high 24 points and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals to her day. The 24 points marked Briggs’ third 20-point game of the season. She was one of the most efficient scorers on the floor, making over 60 percent of her shots from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. In a tight game, Briggs made many key baskets down the stretch, including a layup at the 2:13 mark of the overtime period that gave Nevada the lead for good.

Briggs is in the midst of a career season through 11 games and currently ranks fifth in the Mountain West in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (7.5 rpg) and field goal percentage (50.8 percent). She has recorded five double-doubles this season, four of which have come in the last five games, and ranks first in the league in that category.
