LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Prior to the start of the 2020 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship, the conference announced its All-Mountain West award winners with Nevada sophomore Essence Booker and freshman Dom Phillips earning honors.

Booker earned an All-Mountain West honorable mention, the first postseason all-conference honor of her career. Phillips was selected to the five-person all-freshman team.

Booker posted a breakout sophomore campaign, averaging 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in 18 league games. She led the Wolf Pack and ranked 10th in the league with her 32 made 3-point field goals in conference contests. Booker had a dynamite night from beyond the arc in the Wolf Pack’s regular season finale at San Diego State, hitting a career-high five 3-pointers while shooting 55.6 percent from long range.

Booker scored in double figures in 13 of the 18 Mountain West games this season, including a current stretch of 12 in a row. In eight of those games she scored 15 points or more, including her conference-high of 19 points which she reached twice. Booker shot 38.7 percent from the field in league games and was one of the best on the team from the free throw line at 85.7 percent. Additionally, Booker ranked second on the team with 40 assists and 18 steals.

Despite her season being cut short due to injury, Phillips was solid in her nine Mountain West games during her rookie season. Phillips, who averaged over 20 minutes per game while earning three starts, averaged 8.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She recorded four of her nine games in double figures, including two 17-point performances, setting a season high. In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Phillips also produced a six-assist game during league play against SJSU.

Nevada will open the 2020 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Championship this afternoon at 2 p.m. against No. 9 New Mexico from the Thomas & Mack Center.
