Bats silent as losing streak reaches four for Nevada softball

FRESNO, Calif. - The Nevada softball team is now 21-16 after a 6-0 loss at Fresno State on Saturday. The Pack moves to 6-5 in conference play. The two meet for the final time tomorrow, Sunday at noon.

The team combined for another four hits with Sierra Mello recording a multi-hit game with two, both singles while Ashley Salausa and Lauren Gutierrez both tallied singles as well to round out the group.

Julia Jensen started in the circle and pitched three innings with two strikeouts and had three earned runs before Kendall Fritz came in relief and pitched the other three innings. The freshman has two strikeouts in the contest and tallied her 100th on the year. Jensen is now 8-4 on the year.

Fresno State put up three runs in the first inning before the Pack held them scoreless in the second. Nevada put runners in scoring position in the fourth inning but left them stranded on a fly ball. Again the Bulldogs scored a solo run on a home run in the bottom of the third before adding three insurance runs in the fifth. Fresno State took the game, 6-0.

Following the final game, tomorrow against the Bulldogs, the Pack take on Colorado State in Reno for a three-game series beginning on Thursday.
