Aces arms can't contain Grizzlies bats in 8-4 loss

FRENSO, Calif. – The Reno Aces offense was dealt a bad hand Saturday night in Fresno, California. Reno faced three power arms out of the Nationals farm system; Austin Voth (9), Austin Adams (3), Vidal Nuño III (5) combined to strike out 17 Aces batters en route to an 8-4 victory in game three of the 2019 season. Domingo Leyba and Travis Snider both finished with three hits, but couldn’t string enough together to beat the home team in front of 10,047 fans.

Reno got into the scoring column in the top of the first inning thanks to a Travis Snider RBI single in his first at-bat in an Aces uniform. The Grizzlies responded with two in the second and one in the third to take a 3-1 advantage. Again it was Snider to spark the offense, tagging a fastball into right-center field to score Leyba. A grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning off Braden Shipley proved to be the dagger as the Grizzlies never looked back. The loss brings Reno to a record of 1-2 on the season with two games remaining in their first series. Left-hander Anthony Vasquez will take the mound for Reno tomorrow afternoon and square off against right-hander Paolo Espino.
