4A Northern softball kicks off in Carson City

RENO, NV (KOLO) - Regional softball got started Thursday in Carson City, with all four top seeds standing pat and moving on to Friday's winner's bracket.

In the first slate of games, top seed and defending state champion Spanish Springs had no issues with Reno, beating the Huskies 5-0. The other field featured a much better game between Douglas and McQueen. The Tigers rallying to tie it in the top of the 7th only to have the Lancer walk off in the bottom half, 3-2 that final.

The day's second session saw second seed Manogue overwhelm Damonte Ranch 6-1. On the other side, host squad Carson got into double digits against Reed, crushing the Raiders, 10-2.

Later in the day, Reed and Douglas kept their seasons going with wins in loser-out games.
