The bear was captured on video by a KOLO 8 viewer Monday, February 10, 2020.
"I was pretty scared but it was just a small bear and it was climbing here on these branches up here," Mason Baker, an eleven-year-old boy who lives in the neighborhood, said.
You can see the bear climbing a tree, and even bouncing in the branches, off Silver Shores Drive.
"I was very nervous just because there's a school a quarter mile away that my kids go to and I know the streets are packed with kids getting out of school so that was my first concern that kids would be oblivious and not even notice there's a bear," Michael Walker, a parent, said.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife says they are aware of the bear and have attempted to capture it. They are asking anyone who sees the bear to contact them at 775-688-BEAR.
Wildlife officials are also reminding neighbors to secure their trash.
The Washoe County School District said it does not have any information on the bear at this time and a message has not been sent out to families via the Connect Ed service.
