The Washoe County Coroner's Office has identified the woman killed as a result of the crash as Irene Souza, 85, of Reno.
An 85-year-old woman died Friday from injuries suffered in a crash in northeast Reno a week earlier, the Reno Police Department reported.
The three-vehicle crash happened Sept. 6, 2019 at 1:43 p.m. at Evans Avenue and North McCarran Boulevard, police said.
Two vehicles were stopped at a red traffic light facing east and were hit from behind by a third vehicle going east on North McCarran Boulevard.
The woman who eventually died was one of two people in the middle vehicle who were taken to the hospital with what were believed to be injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening after being extricated from the car by the Reno Fire Department. Police are not releasing other details of the case at this time, but said it appears drug impairment may be a factor in the crash.
Police are still investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 775-334-2141.
