Darin Balaam is the county's 27th Sheriff, sworn in January 7, 2019 along with other elected county officials.
“It hasn't set in, but for me it’s very honoring, especially since my dad wore this uniform; for me it’s special, very special,” he says.
He says sex trafficking, opioids and mental health are among the first issues to be tackled. He says he also wants to add 10 deputies every year over the next four years and to continue to serve be a good partner in the community.
