SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. (KOLO) The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) Senior Services Division, Regional Parks and Open Space, and the Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada have opened a new meal site for seniors in Spanish Springs.
The new site will serve seniors 60 and older meals, prepared by Catholic Charities at the Washoe County Senior Center. The Spanish Springs meal site is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Seniors can also socialize, play board and card games and enjoy the occasional live entertainment.
"This is going to be great to come down here and socialize and actually see some real human beings and not just watch TV. It's going to be great, Harold Pershall, a senior, says.
Meals served at the new Spanish Springs Congregate Meal Site are part of the Senior Nutrition Program, which serves more than 400,000 meals to seniors throughout Washoe County every year.
