Washoe County issues weather alert for school families

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County School District says based on flooding in several areas, families are asked to "make arrangements to pick your child up if they walk or bike to school. Please be patient with school bus and other transportation delays."

The district says it is assessing the situation and may follow up District-wide or on a school-by-school basis as necessary. A Connect Ed message has been sent to parents.

The district says, "Schools will remain open and children should be safe and not cross flood waters. Even a few inches of flowing water can be dangerous."
