Washoe County Sheriff introduces new K9

RENO, NV (KOLO) The Washoe County Sheriff's Office introduced a new K9 Wednesday during a donation event for Washoe County K9 Partners at Lithia Reno Subaru

Jett, a 15-month-old Shepherd, was announced during a fundraising presentation.

The Sheriff's Office acquired Jett thanks to a donation from K9 Partners, a non-profit that provides support for law enforcement K9s in Washoe County. For the second year in a row, Lithia Reno Subaru has designated the non-profit as one of the recipients of the "Share the Love" fundraising effort.

Jett is a full-service law enforcement K9 that will be able to assist with patrol, narcotics enforcement, tracking, and evidence searches. He is the second Washoe County Sheriff's Office K9 funded through K9 Partners. The first, Boomer, began service in May 2018.

Six other members of the Sheriff's Office K9 Unit also attended the fundraising presentation. Donations help outfit K9s and handlers with essential equipment and training, along with other needs required to keep our community safe.
