RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County Commission chamber was standing room only at its meeting November 27, 2018, with a large crowd of people ranging from inter-faith leaders, business representatives, university students and some of those living on fixed incomes who are now being priced out of their homes by a tight housing market.
They were there to urge the commission to implement affordable housing trust funds. The concept of the trust fund is to support the development of more affordable housing.
There’s reportedly strong support for the idea on the commission, possibly to be funded through government services fee, but commissioners are looking for a way of putting it into practice.
No decision was made at the Tuesday meeting.
