RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Back in Cleveland they are getting ready for game 4 of the NBA finals, a game you'll see right here on KOLO 8.
The finals are one of the yearly big events for local sports books, but with this series seemingly set for an early ending, what effect is it having on them?
Not much it turns out.
One might expect the betting to slow down at this point. but the books say that hasn't happened, though as expected Warrior fans are driving the action.
The Golden State Warriors put themselves in commanding position with a come-from-behind win Wednesday night, a game which the Cavs seemed to have had locked up.
The Warriors can wrap up the series and the championship with a win Friday night and assuming the Cavaliers are ripe for a letdown, one might expect Golden State fans to sit back and relax.
But that's not happening.
"I think there was a little bit of nervousness in the last game when the Cavaliers were up late in that game," says Steve Mikkelson of the Atlantis Race and Sports Book, "but the Warriors fans stayed true, loyal and most of the bets we've taken again today have been on the Warriors."
And Mikkelson says the Warriors "and over" has been the predominant bet throughout. They go into Friday's game 6-point favorites.
Casual fans and sports books might have hoped for a 7-game series.
Warrior fans just want a championship. We'll find out in the next couple of hours.
