RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is reopening the entire Virginia Street corridor to two-way traffic.

The RTC's Virginia Street Project's first phase is now 95% complete, allowing for the return to two-way traffic.

Drivers can still expect to see possible lane closures and traffic shifts through the month of April.

The RTC has also closed the temporary parking lots at the Ponderosa Hotel and Shopper's Square. Unless you are patronizing those businesses, your car may be towed by the business owners. Temporary parking along Virginia Street is also being removed to restore Virginia Street to two-way traffic.

The next phase of construction begins this summer, which will include new sidewalks, landscaping, street lighting and transit stations, along with safety improvements.

The second phase is expected to be complete by the winter of 2020.
