RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -- The popular Cyclocross National Championship event is set to take place at Rancho San Rafael Park January 9th-14th, 2018.
Cyclocross is an event known to challenge riders at their best, often in the worst conditions with difficult terrain, obstacles and often inclement weather conditions. Cyclocross is USA Cycling’s fastest-growing segment with global rider participation at an all-time- high. Events typically take place all day with races lasting between 30 minutes to an hour each. This family-friendly event is estimated to bring a healthy $4 million economic impact to our community.
“Cyclocross is the fastest growing sport in cycling and we’re excited to be welcoming around 7,000 people to northern Nevada in what is typically a slow period for tourism,” said Coby Rowe, Glacier Cycling.
It costs $15 for anyone age 11 or older for the six-day event. If you volunteer, it’s free. The dog park at Rancho San Rafael will stay open during the event.
