Name released of victim in crash on U.S. 95 north of Hawthorne
One person died in a Saturday morning rollover on U.S. 95 north of Hawthorne; four others were seriously injured.
About 8:15AM May 7, 2016, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover in the area of Walker Lake in Mineral County.
The preliminary investigation indicates a silver 2010 Toyota Sienna driven by a Washington state woman was headed north. Witnesses say as the car passed a semi-truck and trailer, it left the road and overturned, stopping on the dirt shoulder.
There were five passengers in the car, one other from Washington state and four family members from Germany. One passenger had been wearing a seatbelt and stayed with the car as it rolled; all five other occupants were thrown from the wreck. Passenger Liane Kramer of Germany was killed. Four other occupants were taken by ground ambulance to Mt. Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne, then were flown to Renown Regional Medical Center with injuries ranging from serious to critical. Because weather was too severe for Care Flight, two helicopters from NAS Fallon Search and Rescue were used for transport.
Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating.
