RENO, NV (KOLO) - A proposed plan made between the University of Nevada Reno and Eldorado Resorts is in the works after the Argenta Hall explosion earlier this month.

The plan will house displaced students in Circus Circus Reno for the upcoming school year.

The proposed plan will secure 1,300 student beds. If all goes to plan, students will live at the newly renovated Sky Tower of Circus Circus, which the school plans to call Wolf Pack Tower.

Students said they are thankful for the proposal, but a little bit wary it may take away the college experience.

Melquan Stovall said, “They should be able to focus, but it might be kind of a distraction because they are so far downtown and the places they need to be are on campus.”

The school said students will have separate non-gaming entrances and exits to the building along with around the clock security.

Fabian Kaiwi said, “I think it’s going to be difficult to adapt to that living environment, especially it being kind of like off campus.”

According to UNR Wolf Pack Tower will have a dorm like atmosphere, provide transportation to and from campus, and those with a car will have free parking at the casino’s garage.

Some students said living downtown could be a little challenging. Austin Kirksey said, “I think there’s a lot of stuff to do downtown and get in trouble and stuff like that, I think it can be a little bit of a distraction, but if students can focus then it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Although the collaboration isn’t final, it’s not what college students expect. Finnley Bourne said, “Out of the decisions you can make, it seems like the best decision possible.”

Students are thankful it’s a plan in the right direction. In a statement, Anthony Carano President of Eldoraro Resorts said, ““We have a long and proud tradition in our northern Nevada community of coming together in times of critical need, this being one of those times.”

“Fortunately, we at Eldorado Resorts are in a position to help the University by making our non-gaming Circus Circus Sky Tower available to student housing. We are fully prepared to collaborate with University leadership for as long as it takes.”
