UNR Med offers free clinics in May/June
People in Northern Nevada who are uninsured, underinsured, or without Social Security numbers can receive free medical care this May and June at upcoming
Student Outreach Clinics. UNR Med offers the free clinics in order to assist the region's medically uninsured with needed services.
The free clinics offer a variety of services, including flu shots, gynecological exams, blood pressure monitoring and general physicals. They also offer pediatric services such as Head Start physicals, sick visits and immunizations for children. Dental and optometric services are not provided.
Patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis and must sign in by 10 a.m. for Saturday clinics and 7:30 p.m. for Tuesday clinics. No appointments are necessary and Spanish translators are available at all clinics.
Clinics are held at UNR Med's Family Medicine Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus at 123 17th Street in Reno. The clinics allow UNR medical students to get hands-on experience while helping the community. Licensed faculty and clinical community physicians supervise the medical students and the care patients receive.
